Welcome to Civics !!
My name is Shelley Zevnik and I have been teaching civics at Union for the past 14 years. I am glad that you have taken the time to visit this web site!
The first thing you are probably asking yourself is, what exactly is civics? Well, it isn't geography. Civics is the study of the right, duties, and responsiblities of citizenship. You are a member of many different groups and as such you have rights and responsibilities. In this course you will learn what it means to be a United States citizen. To learn this we will be exploring how our form of government came into being, how it operates, why it is stuctured as it is, and what your rights and responsibilites are!
Once you have learned these very important things you will find that you have gained the knowledge and skills to truly make a positive difference in your community, state, nation, and world.
